Pharus updates from a busy August 2024
It’s been an incredibly busy and productive 6 weeks since we launched our website and removed our stealth label for the world. Despite the productivity, I often find myself only seeing the list of things that I said I wanted to get done but didn’t, rather than the list of items that we did accomplish. I think these routine blog posts provide a good grounding for me to recognize the work that our team has completed and what we have accomplished.
The first major milestone that we hit in August was onboarding our first full time hire and an additional part time hire. Both of these individuals have deep background in software engineering with expertise across front-end, back-end, and middleware. With both of these hires coming from Latin American countries, my Spanish is quickly getting put to the test and despite an active 31 day Duolingo streak, I’m shockingly still not fluent. However, both of our new engineers communicate well in both English and Spanish, so we’ll default to the former until I catch up on the latter. We have had a lot of success and are beginning to test our back-end to front-end data connection to get our beta product launched with realtime data in the next few weeks.
The other major milestone that we hit was the finalization of two pilot clients that we have already started working on alpha / pre-beta products with to ensure that the visuals we are building will provide them value for day one. We have a lofty goal of piloting with four different food and beverage companies in October and November before going to the market to start our sales process come the new year. If you or anyone you know is looking for free access to financial dashboarding and metrics, we are still finalizing our last pilot client and it all comes free of charge.
In other news, American football season is starting back up which puts our founding team on edge and at risk for significant conflict every week. Despite attending the University of Wisconsin, I grew up in Columbus, Ohio and will always bleed scarlet and gray. Jason, unfortunately, is an alumnus of University of Michigan and will forever be my second favorite co-founder as a result. I chose the wrong time to start a company with a UofM grad, given that they just won the national championship. Despite this, our shared experiences of suffering through Lions and Browns football leaves me confident that we have enough in common to look past his fandom. We’ll see if that’s still true in November.
